Pure?

This Huffington Post piece titled "Valarie Jarrett Heckled And Hissed At Netroots Nation" is all about how while otherwise politely received, Ms. Jarrett was heckled and hissed at when she defended certain military policies of Obama.

What I found disturbing was this statement below.

"I'm asking you to trust [the President]," she pleaded. "And I know that's hard. Because I know how pure you are to the cause. But he also has to keep in mind that he has to keep those folks safe."

[Emphasis mine]

"Pure you are to the cause"?!?

Isn't "purity" one of those political concepts more in line with socialism, fascism and communism than American Democracy?

Perhaps I am reading more into it than the comment deserves. I probably am. But when anyone - right or left - starts talking "purity", I start running.
