Yes, Everyone Really Does Hate Performance Reviews This is just the sort of article I despise and it saddens me that it was published in The Wall Street Journal.
I would give the author a poor performance review based on his poor performance writing this article. No citations, no quotes, all assumptions. The entire piece reeks of self-pity and anger. It's a rant masquerading as opinion masquerading as an article.
But the author is right on one major count, bosses need to be held accountable for the performance of their subordinates. The editors of WSJ ought to get a small paycut for publishing this.
