Jonathan Haidt on Morality

Over at Ted.com, this brilliant piece on liberal and conservative moral views was posted about a year ago but it is very well done! It is titled "The moral roots of liberals and conservatives."

What Mr. Haidt shows in graphs but never says out loud is that conservatives use more of the five moral foundations than conservatives.

I'm just sayin'.

  1. Interesting, thanks - Now, I realize he probably would have gotten booed off the stage (or, knowing liberals, cream-pied off), but would it have killed him to come out and say, "Look, conservatives identify with all five of these traits. Liberals tend to only embrace the two most obvious. Maybe there's something to this whole conservative thing." But I guess that's very wishful thinking on my part.

His research shows that the conservative mindset is actually much better for society on a large scale and in the long term, but hey, ignore that, let's just all try and get along while liberals degrade and mock conservatives.
