Wow! What a terrible and frightening example of the violent right, especially compared to the tens of thousands of "Kill Bush" signs and hanging-Bush-in-effigy sticks the Left have carried for eight years.

Big Business vs. Big Government

What baffles me is how the Left Liberals seem to believe there is a difference between big business and big government.

There is but not how they think.

All human endeavors, profit or nonprofit, are nothing more than collections of human beings.

And because no one is infallible, people make mistakes. Judgements are in error. Temptations and egos abound.

All businesses (large and small) and all governments (town, state, federal) are people. Period. Both have to follow The Law. And in our US capitalist democracy, both have to answer to voters/consumers.

So in this respect big government and big business are the same.

The differences like in two details. First if a company makes a bad product, consumers can freely choose to reject it and the company must either fix the product, kill the product or risk going out of business. A government makes a bad policy/law, voters are stuck with that bad policy for years if not forever. There are very few options or choices.

The second difference is that all business workers whether a janitor or CEO still has to answer to a boss who can fire her or him fairly quickly if they fail to do their job. A government worker or bureaucrat basically has a job for life and a fiefdom to protect. They do not have to worry about answering to a boss on quite the same level as a private sector worker.

These are important distinctions.

Because if you do not like your health insurance, you can find a better one but once the government takes over the business of health insurance, your choice will disappear. A private health insurance business must supply its customers with the service they need. A government health insurance bureaucracy is answerable to no one.

Just look at Medicare and Medicaid. While many people have reasonable experiences that are equivalent to private healthcare insurance, many more have miserable experiences. Fraud and waste are endemic because there are no shareholders to answer to.

And voters don't get to vote bureaucrats.

Why the Left Liberals believe that a big government is "better" than a big business reveals a stunning ignorance of reality at best and a wilful belief in the failure that is socialism at worst.

Did ACORN Get Frankin Elected?

That's a heck of an accusation that Katherine Kersten explores in this article titled, "Worst trouble with ACORN is at the polls. Nationally, its voter registration is often fraudulent. So what about here?"

But ACORN does have a special place in its heart for at least one prominent Minnesota politician. Last year, it showered praise on Al Franken, endorsing his run for the U.S. Senate. Franken returned the esteem: "I'm thrilled and honored to receive this endorsement," he gushed in a press release. He added that he was "more motivated than ever to work with ACORN."

Here in Minnesota, ACORN has boasted of playing a major role in the 2008 elections. It claims to have registered 43,000 new voters, which it describes as 75 percent of the state's new registrations. Franken's margin of victory in the Senate race was razor-thin: 312 votes out of about 3 million cast. And Minnesota's laws on proof of voter eligibility are notoriously loose. Did ACORN folks pull some fast ones to help get their favorite son Franken elected -- a win that handed Democrats the 60-vote, veto-proof majority that they needed to enact their liberal agenda?

Secretary of State Mark Ritchie assures us that Minnesota's system of voter verification protects electoral integrity.

But here's an uncomfortable fact: Ritchie himself was endorsed by the now-notorious ACORN and elected with its help.

Ummm, that's not good.

Lame Politicians Reading Polls More than Bills?

Health care polls leave pols dizzy. Basically badly written polls and confusion about Obamacare has made most polls pretty much useless. Add in the lies that Obama, liberals and the media are spreading about Obamacare itself and you've pretty much added to the chaos.

I think this should be the only polls politicians should pay attention to. 59% of voters nationwide oppose the healthcare reforms

Just 41% of voters nationwide now favor the health care reform proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s down two points from a week ago and the lowest level of support yet measured.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 56% are opposed to the plan.

Senior citizens are less supportive of the plan than younger voters. In the latest survey, just 33% of seniors favor the plan while 59% are opposed. The intensity gap among seniors is significant. Only 16% of the over-65 crowd Strongly Favors the legislation while 46% are Strongly Opposed.
