Destroyed Data Destroys Credibility

Govt-Funded Research Unit Destroyed Original Climate Data.
CEI Petitions EPA to Reopen Global Warming Rulemaking.

In mid-August the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit (CRU) disclosed that it had destroyed the raw data for its global surface temperature data set because of an alleged lack of storage space. The CRU data have been the basis for several of the major international studies that claim we face a global warming crisis. CRU’s destruction of data, however, severely undercuts the credibility of those studies.

In a declaration filed with CEI’s petition, Cato Institute scholar and climate scientist Patrick Michaels calls CRU’s revelation “a totally new element” that “violates basic scientific principles, and “throws even more doubt” on the claims of global warming alarmists.

CEI’s petition, filed late Monday with EPA, argues that CRU’s disclosure casts a new cloud of doubt on the science behind EPA’s proposal to regulate carbon dioxide.

Basically, the EPA is using discredited studies to justify regulating carbon dioxide which in itself is a massive attempt to control our energy supplies and lifestyle.

I should come up with 52 so we can have a full deck of anti-race cards to play with against ACORN's. Feel free to come up with suggestions.

Did Matt Drudge Get Fisked?

The Drudgereport has a link above the masthead titled, "PAPER: ARABS PLOT TO DROP DOLLAR" which goes to this article from The Independent titled, "The demise of the dollar."

The Volokh Conspiracy describes the article thusly,

"In the (UK) Independent, Robert Fisk, who has wide contacts in the Middle East, reports on “secret meetings . . . by finance ministers and central bank governors in Russia, China, Japan and Brazil to work on” an Arab scheme that “will mean that oil will no longer be priced in dollars.”

And Instapudit also linked to the original article and the above while also providing this link - Oil states say no talks on replacing dlr.

So far no one has pointed out that this article was written by ROBERT FISK! Now, I can not tell you if what Mr. Fisk has written today about the dollar is true or not but it was written by ROBERT FISK. The same Robert Fisk who's sloppy journalism has been legendary on the Internet for over a decade.

The man's name has become a verb! To Fisk someone is to tear apart their argument and point out each and every lie, omission, ad homenin attack, and strawman argument.

Matt Drudge knows who Robert Fisk is. I sincerely hope he has not been duped but so far the story is being denied. Even the Wall Street Journal is running an article titled, "Gulf Officials Deny Plan to Replace Dollar". Robert Fisk might just this once know something others do not, but I doubt it and I'm sorry to see the mighty Matt Drudge trip up over Fisk.

When You've Lost Frank Rich

Well, you've lost the op-ed columnist who was your biggest supporter at the biggest newspaper that has constantly been your cheerleader and mouthpiece, The New York Times.

In his column, The Rabbit Ragu Democrats, Rich says the public are right to be sceptical of Obama since his actions have not matched his words. Then Rich proceeds to detail exacting examples - with links - of that hypocrisy.
