Not Black Enough

While the NAACP supports Obama now. It wasn't always so - in fact it was considered a close thing between Hilary and Obama, here, by the New York Post (scoll down to the bottom paragraphs).

I just wanted to take a moment to remind folks that first time I ever heard of Obama was when my husband told me in disgust that other African-American leaders were dismissing Obama because he was "not black enough."

Time Magazine

LA Times

Columbia Journalism Review

Joe Biden

National Public Radio

And here at The Washington Post is a story of Obama acknowleding that many African-Americans and African-American leaders do not think he was "black enough"

Of course, some clever bloggers made fun of this situation where the NAACP is the arbitrator of "blackness" - a sample is here.
