Tax Protest Update

If things go as organizers plan, thousands of ordinary, hard-working Americans will hit the streets Wednesday in hundreds of Tea Party Protests called to oppose the high-tax and deficit spending policies of President Obama and the Democratic Congress. Some observers have compared the Tea Party Protests to the Tax Revolt that began in California in the 1970s and spread nationwide, eventually providing important support for President Ronald Reagan’s landmark 1981 tax rate cut. But there really is nothing in modern American political history to match the spontaneous explosion of grassroots political activism in recent months among what once was known as the Silent Majority.

The movement started with a “Porkulus” protest organized by Keli Carender, a blogger-mom in Seattle getting her first taste of political activism, three days before the now-famous Feb. 19 television news rant by CNBC reporter Rick Santelli from the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Carender was concerned about Obama’s $787 billion economic stimulus package. Blogger Michelle Malkin got wind of Carender’s activity and touted it, which led to similar protests in Colorado, Arizona, and Kansas. A national movement caught fire, organized by a bunch of mostly unconnected people who found each other via social networking on the Internet. These facts about the origins of the movement render especially goofy recent accusations from pro-Obama groups on the left that the Tea Party Protests are somehow part of an evil right-wing conspiracy funded either by CNBC or Fox News.

Part of the reason for the mean-spiritedness in some of the attacks from the pro-Obama groups is likely the failure of efforts to turn out large crowds in support of the chief executive’s $787 billion economic stimulus package and $3.6 trillion 2010 federal budget, with its $1 trillion deficit and comparable floods of red ink for a decade thereafter. The recent “New Way Forward” gathering here in D.C., for example, was heralded by organizers as the first of a wave of counter-Tea Party Protests, but barely a dozen people turned out. Similarly, much-publicized efforts to use the 13-million email addresses compiled by the Obama campaign to generate pressure on Congress barely caused a ripple, much less a wave of support for the Obama budget. Shocker! Obama Breaks A Campaign Promise

It's actually a small promise - to get a shelter dog but given his child's allergies, a purebreed was probably unavoidable.

Still, it is the way the Obama's (and Ted Kennedy) went to such great lengths as described here to make it look like their new Portuguese Water Dog was a rescue animal shows how little faith they have in reasonable people.

Certainly (and my sister who worked for them can attest to this) there are some "crazy" people in the animal rescue/shelter industry. People who will condemn Obama for putting his daughter before an animal. But again, reasonable people would understand.

The knee-jerk impulse to lie, fudge, and confuse in order to do what they damn well please is endemic on both sides of the political spectrum but when a politician promises hope and change until you want to vomit and then does not keep his hope and change promises, well, that just makes it all the worse.

Shocker! Biden is a Liar

Between Biden and Karl Rove, I'll believe Rove any day.

And Rove is calling Biden a liar after Biden claimed he privately castigated President Bush.

When, when, when will the press subject Biden to the same level of investigative scrutiny as they do the average republican vice presidential candidate?

Islamic terrorists were arrested in Great Britain after caught plotting to create an Easter bombing "spectacular" in northwestern England.

But according to Obama, we have nothing to fear from terrorists.

Pope's Good Friday Meditation

Pope Benedict XVI last night attacked the rise of aggressive secularism in Western societies, warning them that they risked drifting into a 'desert of godlessness'.

He used his Good Friday meditations to compare deliberate attempts to remove religion from public life to the mockery of Jesus Christ by the mob as he was led out to be crucified.

'Religious sentiments' were increasingly ranked among the 'unwelcome leftovers of antiquity' and 'held up to scorn and ridicule', he added.

'We are shocked to see to what levels of brutality human beings can sink,' said the Pope at an evening ceremony at the Coliseum in Rome.

'Jesus is humiliated in new ways even today when things that are most holy and profound in the faith are being trivialised, the sense of the sacred is allowed to erode.

'Values and norms that held societies together and drew people to higher ideals are laughed at and thrown overboard. Jesus continues to be ridiculed.'

The German-born Pope, who turns 82 later this month, prayed Christians would respond by growing in faith

'May we never question or mock serious things in life like a cynic,' he added. He also condemned the oppression of women, saying there were 'many societies in the world where women fail to receive a fair deal.'

'Christ must be weeping for them,' he said.

It's morning in America and many liberals are waking up to an Obama-hangover and taking that "walk of shame" back to their homes and offices.

We've all been there but those who drank most deeply from the Obama kool-aid are suffering the worst, the quickest.

In the middle of an economic global crisis, Obama flies a pizza chef 850 miles so he and his staff can have some thin crust and deep dish pizza?

Is that economically responsible? Is that environmentally responsible? Is that even demonstrating a modicum of leadership?

And why haven't the so-called representatives of the people (aka journalists) taken Obama to task for this grotesque self-indulgence?

Oh yes, that would disrupt "the narrative" that Obama actually gives a rat's ass about Americans.

You know the shine is off when MSNBC starts regretting Obama. While every conservative venue was concerned about many leftwing policies Obama seemed to support (but no major news organization would investigate), the Left's concern is now with Obama's continuation and expansion of "Bush's policies".

Bush's policies were relatively basic defensive steps against terrorists, Obama is attempting to kill democracy and freedom in order to grow his socialist/progressive/near-fascist agenda of cultural and financial control of the country. ProPublica is looking for some help.

Check Out the Obama Team’s Financial FilingsAdministration officials and high-ranking executive branch employees are required to disclose [2] the intimate details of their financial lives. The disclosures made include stock holdings, previous salaries and even book deals, such as Assistant Treasury Secretary Alan Krueger's advance of at least $180,000 [3] (plus royalties) from MacMillan, the publisher of his textbook, "Explorations in Economics." ProPublica is collecting these disclosures, and today, we're sharing what we've got [1].

We've flipped through the disclosures of 179 officials [1], ranging from the White House social secretary to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and the documents are rich with interesting details. Help us parse the disclosures and post your discoveries in the comments section below.

Here's an example of what we've found so far: On paper, Susan Rice looks like she belongs at the Treasury [4], rather than the State Department. The new United Nations ambassador's disclosure [4] lists 10 individual stock holdings, largely in Canadian companies, that total at least $4.25 million.

The disclosures are a matter of public record. But the government insists on giving them out by request only. We’re cutting out the middleman: Dig into the documents yourself [1].

Obama Bowed

Obama's staffing problems are blatant -- from that bleating boy of a treasury secretary to what appears to be a total vacuum where a chief of protocol should be. There has been one needless gaffe after another -- from the president's tacky appearance on a late-night comedy show to the kitsch gifts given to the British prime minister, followed by the sweater-clad first lady's over-familiarity with the queen and culminating in the jaw-dropping spectacle of a president of the United States bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia. Why was protest about the latter indignity confined to conservatives? The silence of the major media was a disgrace. But I attribute that embarrassing incident not to Obama's sinister or naive appeasement of the Muslim world but to a simple if costly breakdown in basic command of protocol.

UN Human Rights Council Sham

Packed with countries not known for their support for human rights - like China and Cuba - the UN's Human Rights Council is a big fat slap in the face. A disgusting cesspool of hypocrisy who's sole existance is to allow vicious thugs a chance to spew vile hatred on Isreal.

That Obama wants the US to join this obamination reflects his stupid navity, incompetance, and ignorance.

The American Way [David Freddoso]

Cook County Board President Todd Stroger recently explained cigarette tax increases in an unexpectedly candid radio interview.

Host John Williams asked: Isn't it unfair to keep targeting smokers with tax increases?

"That is the American way," Stroger replied. "And the way that it's generally done is, you find some group that's small enough where they can't beat you up, and you tax them and you tell everybody else, 'See? We didn't tax you.' "

This is President Obama's plan, too, if you understand what he is doing and hopes to do to high-income earners, energy producers, small-business owners and yes, smokers.

Given that Cook County is basically Chicago and so is Obama, I think Mr. Freddoso has a strong point - Obama is out to screw us all.

Go Blow Some Eggs

Well, I'm gearing up for Easter by blowing out the "guts" of eggs so whatever my kids dye will last more than 15 seconds.

Once I get them set up and busy, I think I'll blog.

Must Rest...

Apparently the cramping pain and accompanying whining I've been sharing with my husband has been too much.

Also, doctors mean it when they said you must rest for four to six weeks after a surgeon removes a relatively important organ from your body. Who knew?

So, my husband has asked me to stop what I am doing and get back into bed and rest.

I hear and obey.

The FDA Kills

A proven medical treatment called phage saves lives in Europe but is not allowed in the US as a medical treatment. It's called Phage and apparently it kicks bacterial butt.

Food manufactorers can spray it on your food but you can't take it to cure a horrible flesh-eating infection because then phage suddenly becomes medicine.

The FDA would rather kill Americans than allow medicine not completely controlled by them save Americans.
